Despite its high price tag, the majority of health care spending is on clinical care, with limited investments in the critical drivers of health, including social and economic factors and basic needs that strongly influence health outcomes such as housing, food security, exposure to violence, and climate-related challenges.
NASHP provides states with resources and tools that they can use to prioritize the social drivers of health, which can help states increase health equity, improve health outcomes, and decrease the need for costly health care services.
