States Use Appendix K Waivers to Support Home- and Community-Based Services in Response to COVID-19
Updated July 31, 2020
To help Medicaid enrollees get the long-term services and supports they need during the COVID-19 crisis, states are using Appendix K waivers to incorporate more flexibility into their programs. Many states use the waivers to modify their home- and community-based services for older adults and their family caregivers during the crisis. This new National Academy for State Health Policy’s Appendix K interactive map, supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation, tracks states’ newly modified programs.
