The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) analyzed 12 state hospital transparency laws to better understand the current landscape of state-level hospital financial reporting requirements. The chart below shows that state requirements vary not only in purpose, but also by which type of hospitals must report, what information is disclosed, which state agency or entity collects the data, and the penalties for non-compliance. This slideshow breaks the information into multiple charts to highlight the laws in more detail and this blog explores the variations in state reporting. Click here to download or print this chart.
