RAISE Act State Policy Roadmap for Family Caregivers

On September 23, 2021, the RAISE Act Family Caregiving Advisory Council delivered key recommendations to support family caregivers, including a call for financial and workplace security and expanding home and community-based services, among other actions.

The federal government alone cannot implement the Council’s recommendations; it will need to work in partnership with state and local governments and the private sector. The goal of this publication is to provide a roadmap for state officials to better understand the state policy landscape for supporting family caregivers of older adults and to identify opportunities for innovation in their own states.

This roadmap was made possible by support from The John A. Hartford Foundation and the RRF Foundation for Aging.

“State governments that have yet to address the health, economic, and social challenges of caregiving for older adults should learn from the experience of states with caregiver supports, and implement similar programs.”
