Nathan Johnson serves as Chief Policy Officer at the Washington State Health Care Authority and leads the Division of Policy, Planning and Performance. In this role, he oversees policy development and deployment, performance management, legislative and tribal affairs and a variety of strategic initiatives. Nathan also serves as coordinator of the state’s Healthier Washington effort, a multi-agency, public-private endeavor aimed at health transformation, funded in part through a 4-year State Innovation Models grant. Nathan began his policy career in 2008 at the Washington State Senate, with assignments to the health care and human services committees. He originally came to the HCA in 2011 to serve as Medicaid Policy Manager and was appointed Director of Health Care Policy in 2012. Nathan lives in Lacey with his wife and four boys and holds a Master of Arts in Government from Regent University.
