Jane Beyer
Jane currently serves as the Assistant Secretary for Aging and Disability Services, Behavioral Health and Service Integration Administration at the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. From 1988 through 1994, and since January 1999, Jane Beyer has been senior counsel with the Washington State House of Representatives Democratic Caucus. In that position, she has handled a variety of health care issues including: Medicaid, access to health care for uninsured people, individual and group health insurance reform, federal health care reform, state purchasing of health care, health care liability and medical malpractice, patient safety, mental health and long term care. She also handles human services, child welfare and juvenile justice issues. Jane is an active member of the National Academy for State Health Policy and is on the clinical faculty of the University of Washington School of Health Sciences. From 1995 through 1998, Jane was the Washington State Medicaid director. Jane began her work in health law as an attorney with the American Bar Association Commission on Legal Problems of the Elderly [1981 to 1984], and as a legal services attorney in Tacoma, Washington [1984 to 1988]. She graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1981.
