COVID-19 Federal Funding Earmarked for Hospitals, Providers, and States

This chart details the amounts and required oversight of COVID-19 federal funds allocated to hospitals, providers, and states by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (Families First Act), the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act (HR 266), and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. It also includes COVID-19 distribution funds made to these entities beyond what was originally allocated in federal aid packages. The chart is organized by funding type:

  • Provider Relief Fund and other provider funds;
  • State funds;
  • Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund;
  • Flexibilities and delayed funding reductions related to Medicaid and Medicare providers; and
  • Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and other tax credits for employers.
