Carla Plaza joined NASHP in May 2011. Her work focuses primarily on children’s health coverage. Prior to joining NASHP, she served as the Senior Director of Government Affairs and Policy at Voices for America’s Children (Voices) for nearly five years. Her responsibilities included staffing Voices’ Health Policy Advisory Group, monitoring the latest federal developments impacting children’s health, mobilizing and educating the Voices’ member network about the impact of federal proposals on children’s health, and developing and executing federal advocacy strategies in partnership with Voices’ members and national partners. Prior to joining Voices, she served as the Manager for the Health Policy Tracking Service (HPTS), a service of Thomson West (formerly with the National Conference of State Legislatures). Carla holds a MPH from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
