Cost-Effectiveness of Medicaid Family Planning Demonstrations

Following the lead of two pioneering states – Rhode Island and South Carolina – that sought to expand access to family planning services for women of childbearing age, 26 states now operate Medicaid family planning waiver programs. The programs help women avoid unintended pregnancy, improve maternal and child health, and save states millions of dollars.
