Dr. Lynn Mitchell earned a master’s in public health with an emphasis in epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where she also completed her medical degree. Following medical school, she completed a dual residency in Family Medicine and Occupational/Preventive Medicine and is boarded by both specialties. Prior to becoming the OHCA Medical Director, she was a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. In 2000, Dr. Mitchell became State Medicaid Director and has responsibility for SoonerCare Operations of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. In this capacity, she oversees the day to day operations for member/provider services across all programs and benefit structures. Dr. Mitchell has been involved on a national level with Medicaid policies. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) and chairs the Pharmacy Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on behalf of NASMD and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In 2009 Dr. Mitchell was chosen to participate in the year-long, inaugural class of the Medicaid Leadership Institute. Launched by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the program will be run by the Center for Health Care Strategies, Inc.
