CHIPRA State Health Official (SHO) Letters
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is the federal agency responsible for administering CHIP and facilitating CHIPRA implementation. The CMS CHIPRA Homepage is a valuable resource for state officials working to implement the CHIPRA legislation.
An important part of CMS’ role in facilitating CHIPRA implementation is to issue guidance on aspects of the legislation. CMS issues this guidance through State Health Official letters (SHOs), which address implementation issues in advance of regulations that take longer to develop.
