New Mexico

The PCO and PCA have a close working relationship in New Mexico and coordinate on many joint projects, including: the planning of key public health services outreach; joint participation on Legislative Memorial Study Committees; and, quality improvement efforts. The collaboration of the offices has substantially increased state support for the community health centers program, including the more than $5 million of capital support in the form of low-interest capital project loans to eligible primary care centers. In addition, due to previous PCA/PCO collaboration, the state provides funding to the PCA to support community-based Medicaid outreach and enrollment as well as enhanced Medicaid payment levels to community-based primary care centers.
