These Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) fact sheets provide a baseline snapshot of state CHIP programs before the enactment of the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). NASHP derived most of the data for these fact sheets from responses to our fourth comprehensive CHIP survey in 2008, and they include general information about the CHIP programs in each state, as well as information on income eligibility limits, enrollment, efforts for simplifying enrollment and renewal, cost sharing, and benefits. These fact sheets also highlight the effects that ACA provisions will have on CHIP.
